This was one of those super soft clear finishes that make ya want a stiff shot of whiskey! Tried several combo's and settled on System One Polish with foam (wool just would not diminish the swirls) followed by 3M Dark Glaze and a power wash. Then a session of Ultrafina and another power wash before the final wax of Meguiar's #26.

First, some exhaust tip cleanage:

On to the finished shots:

Because the car is now up for sale, I won't post the before or process pics....(except for the exhaust tips LOL).

Came out nice and I've got a challenge ahead of me with a black 530i (sneak preview posted).

very well done, Toto! BMW clear coat is hard!

Not all models and colors Supercharged. I talked to a fellow that calls on BMW North America in NJ and he said that cars assembled in the South Carolina plant do not have the hard clear coats like the products that come from Germany. Furthermore, the products coming from Europe that are the darker colors "can" have soft clear coats.....

The end result is that each car has its' own character. This one happened to be as soft as any Black Bimmer I've ever done.

"The end result is that each car has its' own character." :applause: This quote is a fundamental truth and is something that every detailer and wannabe should have memorized! I read post after post where assumptions of hard clear, soft paint, etc. are proven to be completely wrong. Thanks for this great insight. I was one of those that thought every [BMW, Benz, etc] had the same finish.

havent seen you do an old body style in a while, looks great as always, I have done a few this week too, will post some more pics this weekend
