Hi AG,

I have on my hands a set of e46 bmw m3 competition (csl) wheels. They have minor curb rash and I am no stranger to the process of fixing it. My question is, all the kits for sale for "German wheel repair" do not match the color of these wheels. I heard through a grapevine that these wheels are painted using a multi-step process, giving the unique color.

Does anyone have experience in refinishing these wheels? If there is a rattle can solution, I would prefer that over painting with a gun. I am looking for as close of a match as possible.

Thanks,
Kevin

Rattle can Wurth #893.339108 BMW Silver Wheel Paint 16 OZ is what I use on my 2001 Grand Prix.

It can be matched by a professional paint mixing shop, but they should also be able to match from the wheel itself.

Your local body shop can send you to their suppliers and one of them should be able to put the paint in a rattle can for you.

The factory paint is 2 or 3 stage paint system baked on, so hard to get exact match in single stage.
