Hey guys what would you reccomend for removing old wax/sealent. Id like something I could mix in a spray bottle or something that would take off any wax or sealent. Suggestions?

A strong car soap and clay bar. Then whatever polish you use will get rid of anything still left over.

meguiars body solvent...p21s total auto wash...rubbing alcohol and water mixed 1:1

i use 303 aero space cleaner, it is safe to use on pretty much every thing. i use it all the time, to strip wax i use 30:1 or greater.

There's nothing that I have confidence of removing 100% without being even more labor intensive. Some may chime in with good ideas.
Here is what I am confident will work at removing old layers: Polish; AIO; Paintwork Cleaners.

Sounds dangerous LOL.
I hope not. Isopropyl alcohol is what I use to strip. I have seen this referenced a lot. I hope I am not screwing up!

Nope! You're fine. Lots of members use it. I learned it from here too.

great offerings ... iso alcohol is a fav and very safe as flashes rather quickly. You can use any paint cleaner or paint polish and that works also. 3M makes a Wax and Adhesive Remover also if so inclined.

..and its cheap. I transfer to a spray bottle.

I love the P21S paintwork cleansing lotion. Really does a good job of prepping the surface for a LSP.

I want to do something similar to get rid of my multiple layers of SG and initial layer of AIO to do clay the Xterra again. I would imagine it would be easier to clay without having to go through all the layers of sealants, no?

I understand what you guys were saying about AIO to remove wax, but at the same time wouldn't it also be applying a new sealant as that is what AIO is?
  • I am also interested in the alcohol method...but would you use rubbing alcohol or isopropyl and what percentage on the bottle's label?
  • How would you apply...just a few sprits per panel and microfiber off?
  • Would you have to worry about trim...fading, drying out, etc.?
Thanks!
Feed back please

You guys use the alcohol straight or diluted?

almost straight ... since it is already watered down. Look at label its use 70% at most.
