Hi:

I'm looking to compound/polish my 2005 Accord and am looking for the best way forward, hoping to get input from folks on this forum!

I already own a Bosch ROS65VC-5 from sanding our deck. I constantly see the Porter-Cable 7424XP listed as a good device to use for beginners (and I am a beginner). Can I just use my Bosch on my car, or does the PC do something differently/better than the Bosch? If I can use the Bosch, what do I need to buy to use it as a polisher?

Thanks!

I'm hoping to take advantage of good weather this weekend to polish the Accord, so I'm hoping to place an order in the next couple days (either for a new tool, or just accessories/pads for the Bosch if it will work).

Does anyone heave experience using the Bosch for car polishing, or know if/how that can be done?

It will work. I have a short stroke Craftsman tool that I use on occasion. You're probably going to want to have the heaviest cutting option available. Possibly microfiber cutting pads, and a compound like M105.

I had good results with Ultimate Compound on and orange Lake Country CCS, and Ultimate Polish on a white LC CCS..

Regardless, it sure beats polishing by hand!

It is random orbit but not dual action. The pad won't spin so you may end up with pigtails. Just oscillating jiggles. It a true sander and not a polisher but it may be fine.
