Bought a 15w LED Halogen lamp

I went to Lowes last weekend to shop for some hoses, quick disconnects, and pump sprayers. While I was strolling down each lane, I noticed some halogen lamps and then this 15w LED halogen lamp for 35.00. I figured why not and bought it to give it a try in order to escape from the heat that the halogens give off. After I got home, I immediately plugged it in and gave it a whirl, and to my surprise the lighting the lamp was giving off seemed pretty impressive to me. I strongly believe having 2 or more of these guys fired up at once would be a great alternative to halogens. I'll let the pictures do the talking now.




























My garage size is 18x26 if anyone is wondering about the dimensions. Let me know what you guys think about this lamp. I am planning to pick up another 1-3 more over the weekend to do some more tests with it.
 
I have that one until I installed my wall lights. Its a great little light works great.
 
Hey Todd. Were you able to incorporate the LED lamp with your wall lights? I saw your shop thread and I noticed you only have fluorescent on the wall, unless I'm blind. I, too have some T8's mounted on the side of my walls to try and give off as much light as possible. Did these just did not work for you, or you upgraded to some other lighting options. Here's a picture of my current lighting.




























 
Your loos great and no I didn't upgrade had todo with cost is why i didn't upgrade. I turn off my top lights when doing paint correction and use my Fenix light to check work it's a lot less heat lol. My brother is come over this month to help me hard wire my lights in.
 
Ahh I see. Do you feel that the fenix light is capable of showing you all the different type of defects since that will be your only light source. What type of lighting are you planning on hardwiring?

These are nice lamps. However they really show any paint defect. Even dust seems to glow under them.

The Fenix is the best light I have used yet for seeing defects and haze. Its not cheap but in my opinion its the best light for the money. I hard wiring the lights I have now just like yours. The ones I have now are just plug in ones.

Thank you. I spent a good amount of time planning where to mount each one.

Those are 50w halogen bulbs.

Just messing with ya' here buddy, but you ARE saying that it's an LED right? Were it an LED halogen it'd be a rare bird indeed. :laughing:

I've got a Klutch 30 watt LED, floor sitter like yours that I bought from Northern Tool. It's not cheap by ANY sense of the imagination @ $99 but I freaking LOVE IT! :dblthumb2: You can use the tall stand mounted halogens up high then put this puppy on the floor while you work the sides and never worry about 3rd degree burns again. :)

Being a single element LED makes it one seriously bright puppy. Well spread light as well.

Hey Tony, thanks for the correction. I was thinking in my head that it uses LED instead of halogens, and it looks like a halogen lamp setup, so I just mixed up the two terms together. You have any pictures of that bad boy fired up? I am interested in seeing the difference with the amount of light output.

Don't have any on hand, but I can run out to the garage and get some easily enough.

I like it (of course) because it doesn't get hot. You can use it as a swirl finder in one hand even. ;)

I still think though that it is terribly overpriced. Were it not for that, I'd bought more already. Something like the twin tall mount and a twin floor mount would work wonders. :)

I know that the color temp of halogens is something we still need, but I H-A-T-E working with them any time that the temp is above 70°. During the summer I did some work here and there, not always being able to control where you were or how many fans (if any) you had. It was freaking horrible when it's 94° in the shade and a pair of halogens are 3' over your shoulder. :eek:
