The wife and I have been nomads waiting for our house to be finished so car care over the past few months has been negligable. However, I managed to detail the interiors and wheels but noticed when I cleaned the wheels on the mustang, I saw black areas. Like a primer layer under the silver paint! Is this due to brake dust? I use Mothers Wheel & Tire Cleaner along with their wheel brushes.

Thanks guys,

Let me help you out. It's hard to tell without pictures. It sounds like you take pretty good care of the car and wheels already so I doubt on a car this new you are seeing primer. Primer is usually grey break dust usually balck. Should just be brake dust that perhaps has accumulated in some spots.

You might try some APC agitate with your brushes and rinse. Wax or seal the rims for easier future cleaning.
