well it happened after two years. apparently they didn't use a strong enough bolt for the flex edge adapter (flex uses a grade 8.8) the one that broke has no markings (i believe this means it is not rated and less then grade 8.8 in strength). well the bolt simple sheared off and the pad and plate where sitting there. luckily i had just finished the pass and was letting off the power and pressure. no damage to the car. the bolt sheared just below the flex head, a trip to the drill press to make a hole so an easy out could be used. the drill bit spun the remain piece down to the bottom then drill in real easy (another indication that this bolt was rather soft). then with a hand drill and easy out type tool removed the broken section with no problem. put the factory flex backing plate on and all is fine again. i'll probably track down the appropriate bolt with a 8.8 rating, but think of just using the regular pads not edge pads.
