I'm buffing a trans am today, and the owner has just had the hood repainted. The freshly painted hood is kinda hazed looking, it looks like they used a compound after paint and they either didn't break it down enough or didn't follow the compound with a polish. the owner wants me to polish it back out, but my question is can I polish on 2 day old paint? Is there anything I should be careful about? I was going to use a white pad and 205 on my griots da. is there any reason this would be a bad idea? Thanks, Brett

Not all body shops do stellar work...

If they were buffing on it already then it's kind of safe to assume you can do so safely also, most fresh paint jobs have something done to them within days of being painted.

Do a TEST SPOT to one small section with the M205 and the white polishing pad on the 5 to 6 speed setting and then gently wipe off the residue and inspect.

Chances are you're restore clarity to the clear coat and the paint will look much darker and deeper in your Test Spot. Once you prove this to yourself finish off the rest of the hood.

If you see any problems where you buff then post back here what you see.
