Hello. Im wanting to get some feedback/ opinions on any bug n tar remover. One in particular im wanting to know about is from RainX that you see at walmart. My dad is wanting me to wax his car this weekend and he has tar underneath on the rocker panels but I don't have any tar removers and I wont have my order in time when I order this weekend so im thinking of this stuff for now. Im wanting to make this all worth it in the end, so getting this tar off is a must on his list. Please help?????????/

I went to O'reily's and they had a Turtle Wax bug and tar remover. Since you need it asap. Try it that's all i pretty much know.

This should be available at Autozone or some of the other major auto stores....This is the best OTC solution IMO...

You will see the tar melt away...

Okay. I don't think I have a autozone here in iowa. I checked at advance auto parts and oreillys and all they had was that rainx bug n tar prewash

Try calling around to each and every auto parts store you have locally. It may not be on the shelf where you think they should be.

Stoner's products are pretty popular. Even Wal-Mart has 'em.

Stoner's Tarminator is highly regarded and is available at O'Reilly's, Advanced Auto, Autozone, Carquest, and Walmart where I am. Call your local stores and see if it's available. Ask for it by name, and describe the container in case they aren't familiar with the product.

I have used Tarminator and it works well however I still have some tar like material that is stubborn and smudged around but did not come completely off even after several applications and some aggressive scrubbing with a sponge.

Grease & wax remover always seems to work best for me when removing road tar.

I use these 'economically-priced products" for Tar removal:
-Mineral Spirits (low odor)
-Naptha...(also found in "lighter fluids" like Zippo, Ronsinol; and for Charcoal briquettes, Coleman stoves)
-Kerosene
-Diesel fuel

Of course you have to thoroughly wash/rinse
the affected areas/surfaces... and apply an LSP afterwards.

Then there's products like:
-Rain-X Bug and Tar Remover [Has distillates (petroleum, hydrotreated light)...synonym for:
Low odor paraffinic solvent; Deodorized kerosene; Hydrotreated kerosene; Turbo fuel A]

-Meguiar's Gold Class Bug&Tar remover (has Naptha)

NOTES:
1.) Try to avoid using: Paint thinners, acetone, toluene, xylene, or MEK.

2.) Tarminator is very effective but has just a very small % of Xylene...
Considered "safe" if used as directed.

Hope this helps some.

Carpro Trix works great on tar.

3M Adhesive Remover. Available at wal-mart, napa, etc.

Clear coat safe, I have been using it for years.

Just bought a green bottle of turtle wax locally in a pinch for about $8 for tree sap on my glass and windows....it SUCKED...Did practically nothing. I will be purchasing some stoner tarminator soon, which I've used in the past (that worked great, the residue melted right away...)

Can anyone recommend a bug remover for "on the go" purposes? I just bought a white 2013 Nissan Sentra and now it's Spring, the bugs are out. I do not have easy access to water, so a spray on, wipe off product would benefit me. I thought about Meg's Quick detailer, but I know it's not enough.

Great! I appreciate the response :) I work a lot and so limited on time, yet I want to protect my investment and keep it looking good.
