What do you guy's like for easy bug removal without removing your LSP?

If I get to them quick enough I prespray with my heavy N914 at 32:1 and let it dwell a few minutes, followed by my 2 rounds of foam if a bucket wash, or my normal 1:128 prespray for a RW, and then gently use the Jersey scrubber with either my bucket wash or RW

For either method I have a separate 2 gallon bucket with 1 gallon of either soap or RW just for the bug scrubber

For dried on bugs it is basically the same steps above but repeated several times, so not basically "easy"

I never get aggressive, I just give the chemicals time to rehydrate the critters

For me it depends on the scenario.

If it is a couple random bug splatters and they are fresh, I'll knock them out with a MF towel and a QD spray like ECH2O. For a sizable mess, I'll just wash the whole car and use my wash soap, mitt, and maybe a bug scrubber to remove the more stubborn spots. If the car has a "beard" and it's been baking on the front of the car for a couple days (i.e. on a road trip) I'll break out the Poorboy's Bug Squash and pre-soak the whole area and then clean it up with my wash soap, mitt, and bug scrubber.

I have found a heavy application of Bug Squash did seem to degrade a sealant, so I'd follow up with an application of a pray wax to "freshen up" the area. Since I started using a coating, I've found I rarely have to use Bug Squash and when I do, it doesn't have any affect on the coating at all. The water beading might suffer a bit immediately, but after a good rain or another wash, the coating is back to normal.

Hi Mikey, Are any dedicated bug removers any good? I've been meaning to give N914 a try.
BTW recently lost my wife and now living with my step daughter in Cali near San Diego.
Ron, I am so sad to hear that, you have my condolences my friend

I am glad you have some family to fall back on

The only dedicated bug spray I believe in is Stoner's Tarminator, but it is pretty harsh and in my opinion will strip wax or sealant

I have heard several people swear by Bug Squash and I should try it some day

I have discovered that cleaning bugs off the PPF on the new car is certainly different than cleaning them off paint

I feel like I have to be extra extra gentle with the Jersey scrubber or it feels like it is grabbing the PPF and digging in

If you have a coated vehicle, I recommend CarPro BugOut. I only use it when I have a lot of dried bugs or recent heavy bug periods. Spray it on about 2 minutes prior to washing the affected area and the regular wash will take care of 90+% of the bugs. I just rewash with firmness to get any remaining bugs.

I like Poorboys Bug Squash. Hard part is buying it without a heavy shipping hit. Factory wants $14 so that bottle will cost $30…. I don’t use there other products to make a $100 offer. Other suppliers have dropped it. There’s an eBay vendor with a $14 ship. Otherwise a Canadian vendor has it.

I did order some 3D bug stuff to try from Amazon.

Anyone know of a stocking domestic source

Professionally, for really bad vehicles, I use PoorBoysWorld Bug Squash at 100%, left to dwell under the foam. There's an old thread somewhere where I sprayed it on a moth in my radiator fins and it dissolved the moth.

For my own vehicle, I use detail spray with carnauba wax, let it soak and rub it off with cloth. The natural oils in the carnauba wax break down bug proteins.

I was originally using Bug Squash, but it was often out of stock in Australia. I couldn't wait indefinitely so decided to try Carpro Bug-Out. I found Bug-Out to be more effective in removing stubborn deposits. My theory here is Bug-Out was designed to work with ceramic coatings, this permitted Carpro to make it more potent. So, you may find it will degrade a wax or polymer sealant.

I have since used Gtechniq W8, KCx Insect & Dirt Remover and P&S Bug-Off, but I feel Carpro's has an edge. Having said that, they all smell exactly the same, so the chemistry would be very similar. I guess the level of potency is what separates them.

I had no idea it was so hard to find! Since it's concentrated that smaller bottle will last me at least a couple summers. The last bottle I bought was from here at AG/Autopia.

AG has dropped the entire brand. The only place I could find Poorboys was at Autoforge or Detailed Image, but neither seem to stock the entire line and neither offer Bug Squash at the moment. Looking at their distributers information they only show Autoforge, Detailed Image, and themselves for the US. Seems to be a sad turn for Poorboys.

It's quite sad really, Poorboys were once a key player. Sadly, I think they have fallen in the same way Zymol, Wolfgang, Zaino and Collinite have. The industry has moved on and yet they sort of stagnated.

I been using Nextzett Anti Insekt Bug & Sap Remover for 10 years now. Works fine.

I'm a nay on the PB Bug Squash. I just didn't see an appreciable difference between soaking bugs with Bug Squash and soaking them with an APC. Also, I tend to err on the side of having fewer one-gallon jugs to store.

The key is partially how much it is hyped and coming out with new products with latest buzz words. From what I saw Wolfgang has updated products but the YT reviewers are not reviewing them. Poorboys has been more word of mouth so now fewer mouths due to lack on online marketing, It is like cars, you cannot sell the same designs, etc forever. It is all about marketing. AGO was big out sending out freebies in exchange for reviews.

If Steve came out with new simple black labels and a few name changes, it could be reinvented and then have YT reviewers get access. Traditional waxes and sealants are not hyped unless si02, graphene, or cermic are included in the product name.

When a YT guy can start at new line and have great sales, it shows it is more than just what the product does. They will support people they like (some conned).

I'm finding that while on road trips, the rainx works as a quick remover until i can get the turtle wax bug and tar on the van. But there was this one product years ago what was in a spray can, lemon something, now that stuff worked.

I think this was pretty important for the AO house brands like Wolfgang, DP, Blackfire, and even McKee's 37 when it was part of the family. Having members here do reviews, not only got us chatting about them, but it created something people would find when Googling products or brand names.

Over the years, I won a couple drawings and on another occasion got a whole box of stuff I reviewed when I approached them about a couple upcoming jobs. I also did a pre-release test on a McKee's product. Of course you need active participation here from corporate folks for that to happen.

You can always buy directly from Poorboys.

A key player? In what context? Maybe in the context of boutique brands that are talked about on detailing forums, but not in the larger Meguiar's/Mothers/Turtle Wax etc. context. Plus that is an odd lumping of companies. I don't really know anything about Zymol, but Zaino and Poorboy's are the vision of a single person, persons who are not getting any younger. Wolfgang is in a different category being a house brand of PBMG, which like most everything else PBMG, hasn't been getting much attention, although that may be poised to change now.

Collinite is a different animal, a company that has been around much longer and serves larger segments, not only motor vehicles, but boats, and industrial applications (mold release, power industry). I believe it was a family business but changed ownership a few years ago and they have come out with some new products recently.

I've only ever heard of Poorboy's here. Not intended to be any definitive statement as to their impact/presence in the market, merely a data point. As my dad used to joke when he'd say about a singer/celebrity or something "Never heard of him/her, but I'm sure they never heard of me either!". ;)
