Hi All,

Purchased a new bumper buddy for my new 2013 Ultima since I park outside around a building. The other day I took off the bumper buddy and found that it seems like it burned my paint. The bumper buddy has on the outside (not against the paint two red reflectors) and then is padded on the other side that rests against the bumper. From my perspective it looks like the sun hit the reflectors and "burned" a yellowish tint into the back of the bumper exactly where the red reflectors sit on the front of the bumper buddy.

Any idea on how to get this out of the paint? I tried Iron X, 845 and nothing.

I have attached the picture of the bumper with the red arrows showing the discoloration.

Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't expect IronX or 845 to remove anything.
845 is a wax & IronX will only remove, well, iron...

As mentioned try a light abrasive polish.
How long did you have it fitted to the car before you noticed this?

Honestly, from the pic provided, I cannot see anything. However, you are taking a risk of causing paint damage from an accessory like this, it's the same as a nose mask. No matter what the good intention is by trying to avoid one problem, you are creating another.

I agree.

Some polishing may be in order to fix it.

Thanks for the replies. It has been on and off the car for about 3 months. I take it off to ride on the highways and then leave it on for shorter distances. It sits on the side of the apartment building all week and does not get used.

Got a clay kit coming (been wanting one for rail dust). What type of light polish is suggested?

Try a paint cleaner like Blackfire GEP, or light Polish like m205 or and AIO like XMT 360
