I have a friend who put several bumper stickers on the back of his Chevrolet HHR. He is now looking to sell it and it needs paint correction. He has seen me detail other cars and wants me to do this for him.

I have done paint correction before but have never had to worry about bumper stickers. He is fine with them being removed (which I think should be done) but I'm afraid they are going to rip the paint off.

What products or methods can I use to effectively remove the adhesive and ultimately get these stickers off the car without damaging the paint?

I have a clothes steamer that I use for stickers and tint. Any remaining adhesive, lacquer thinner takes care of.

Adhesive remover or mineral spirits and/or a plastic razor blade. Allow the bumper stickers to soak for then once soft enough use a razor blade to remove the goo. It always ends up being a tedious process with long stuck stickers.

They are not cheap but a 3M Eraser wheel will do the job

Cheap stickers use cheap adhesive.Better vinyl stickers pose a greater challenge.

Thank you for all the replies. I would like to respond to everyone individually but its probably going to make this thread unruly. So I will summarize.

I have a Scunci Steamer, I also have a Porter-Cable PC1500HG Heat Gun (1500 watts).

Which would be better and what is the max temp I can use without damaging the paint ?

What would be the best adhesive remover without damaging the paint ?
