After many trips to multiple dealerships, I have been looking to buy my next car online. I have not yet bought a car online, but I think there are many more options! What has your experience been with this, if any?...........

I purchase most of my cars online. Good communications is key. Get as many detailed photographs as you can if you are not able to see the car in person. Ask for specific shots if needed. A very thorough pre purchase inspection through an independent shop. I bought my latest 911 in Dallas. Flew out and drove it home. Great way to get to know the car.

Buying online really opens up the number of cars you can look at. I always hated being limited to what my small local market contained.

I will buy online again and again.

did most of the research online before going to the dealer and picking her up, corresponed over two months in early 2010 right during the worst winter weather we had had in 20 years, kind of kept people away from the dealership and my new Camaro :)

I bought my last car online and it was convenient. My purchase was through a specific dealership and their Internet department. A lot of emailing back and forth and I do mean a lot! It was for the most part pleasant but be sure to be very specific as to what you want, down to the last detail, and make sure they understand you are not purchasing anything unless it is exactly what you want. You would think that the dealer would get you what you ask for but in my case (twice) I went to the dealership when they told me they had my car and it was not exactly what I wanted. Twice I told them some features were missing and I wanted the options I requested and I left. Luckily dealership was close to my home so it was not too inconvenient. Eventually I got what I wanted and although it seems like I had a hard time the entire process from first contact to purchase was 5 days.
