Can a gg6 fit a 3 inch backplate

Hi I was wondering if a 3 inch backplate fits in a gg6. I only work on 2 cars so I didn't want to spend more money for a gg3.

Yes.

All the DA backing plates we sell on Autogeek.net use a 5/16" thread arbor that will bolt right onto your Griot's Garage DA Polisher.

We used 4" pads on 3.5" backing plates on the GG last Thursday during our live broadcast.

In fact, if you look you can see I have 4" pads and 5.5" pads on all the DA Polishers.

Any backing plate that has a 5/16" 24 thread will work with your GG6.

Yes the GG DA will take a 3" backing plate. Griots sells one for I believe $5.00--it's not in the catalog, but if you call customer service they will give you the part number etc. However, with a 3" BP I think the machine gets very "tippy" and the size of the machine can prevent you from getting into tight spaces. I went with a 3.5" bp and use 4" pads and it's worked well.

Correct, that's the one I have attached to the Griot's Meguiar's and PC DA Polishers in the picture above.

On horizontal panels, if you're not paying attention, the pad is compressing as it is supporting the weight of the machine.

That's not what makes it tippy.

It's having a comparatively large polisher sitting over the top of a comparatively small buffing pad.

haha well said, this is true! Just thought I'd ask! I've actually been wondering this myself for awhile but have managed to hand polish exceptionally small areas where my polisher wouldn't fit. Now with the July20 code I think I'll be investing in some smaller pads/a BP. Whoohoo

Also, I'd like to purchase individual 4" pads (I only want one white one orange, and maybe one red for now) is there a way to do that on this site, because all I can find are 6 packs? Maybe if I call AG on the phone and ask vs making the transaction online?

Mistakes happen to the best of us! I just didn't want anyone to click on the link and purchase the wrong item, possibly creating an unnecessary return. Thanks! I actually decided to click on the "exterior car care tab" instead of just searching "4 inch foam pads" before calling, and wound up finding the individual hydro tech pads.
