Correct, that's the one I have attached to the Griot's Meguiar's and PC DA Polishers in the picture above.
And the above is a true 3" DA Backing Plate that comes on their 3" Mini Polisher. We currently don't stock the GG 3" backing plate, the one Dave and I reference is 3.5"
This is also correct. When using a small pad on a larger tool and working on "horizontal" panels, the tool can be tippy if you're not focusing on the task at hand. You have all this weight and the tool is under power over a very tiny footprint.
It's not a problem when working vertical panels however as for vertical panels you're already supporting the weight of the machine.
On horizontal panels, if you're not paying attention, the pad is compressing as it is supporting the weight of the machine.
Subtle difference in what's taking place, the opportunity for a
whoops if you're not careful.
