I replaced the vinyl stripes on my Challenger. Over the last 5 years I have waxed over them (mistake imo) and taken the matte finish away. I have searched and read a ton of threads here on how to protect them. I see Mckees matte finish cleaner and protector has solid reviews but I really would like to coat them. Thanks

I generally do not use any protectant on matte vinyl stripes. Everything seems to shine them up eventually.

I would say if you lived down here in South fla,yes for coating and yes for a protective wax or matte spray I would just reinstall and leave them alone until they start looking dry.But that's just me.

IIRC Chemical Guys just came out with a wrap spray, check it out.

I have a Super Bee with vinyl decals with a satin finish and I've put CQuartz over them a few times without changing the look of the finish. They look just fine. You'll be fine with a coating.

Thanks for your replies. I just ordered Mckees Matte cleaner/ protector. I'm not to worried about the sun so much as I am the waterless wash with carnanuba. I use that quite a bit and don't want it add any shine to the stripe.

Even though you already ordered something, check out our matte paint care products. We were tested against competitors by Audi, Chrysler, and Hyundai and all 3 OEMs chose us to fulfill their matte paint care needs. Have a look: Dr. Beasley's Matte Paint Coating
