Can Orbital Sander be safely used as Polisher, applying wax & AIO?

I am considering to get a Lithium-Ion cordless orbital sander to be used as polisher.

Has anybody tried this??

Here's the little machine:
http://www.ryobi.com.au/Products/PowerTools/ONEplus/Sanders/CRO1800G

It has 5" velcro backing plate, 10,000 opm, 1.6mm orbital distance.

I know it won't replace my DA polisher for full correction, but I thought it would be handy to do quick spot correction, applying wax & AIO every now and then. Just grab and go.

If it has enough power to sand, it will have enough power to polish a paint too, right?

However I am not too sure as it's oscillating at fixed speed 10,000 opm compared to DA's adjustable 1,000 to 7,000 opm.

Will it generate too much heat and risk burning the paint??

Any input is appreciated thanks.

I have one orbital sander, it looks like first gen of griots garage polisher.
I used to polish, but did not works, has a lot of power but it stops easy.

I dont know about the one you mention but could be the same case

Looks like nothing more than a possible wax spreader to me.

One big drawback is the lack of speed control. Also I wonder how long the battery will last.

I think with an orbital distance of 1.6 mm it isn't going to do much more than possibly spread wax.
