Can this aluminum be saved? I don’t want to polish it to a shine. Not sure what these spots are or what I should use? Motorcycle footrest brackets. View attachment 75570View attachment 75571

can you do a test spot? 0000 steel wool and wd40....and a copious amount of elbow grease....it looks like it's in great shape, and cleaning off that oxidation will make a world of difference...as well, I've seen some guys turn brushed and grained aluminum parts into polished surfaces, takes a lot of time and effort though, you're probably just looking to restore it to a new looking condition

I would try an aluminum paint prep cleaner... Something like this -----

I would try some Marine 31 Stainless Steel & Aluminum Brightening Soap first and follow up with the Blackfire Metal Polish.

Marine 31 Stainless Steel and Aluminum Brightening Soap, best boat metal polish, marine metal polish, marine aluminum polish, marine stainless steel

BLACKFIRE Metal Polish 16 oz.

Looks like a factory finish to me, Maybe casting marks from the mold when they poured the hot metal?
