How does everyone else deal with them? I've had three this week. Doesn't hurt much, but that's lost revenue. $450 to be precise. Not sure how I can keep them excited to get it done or whatever, but would like to not lose any really.

Ask for a deposits, non-refundable. Also ensure to call the customer before hand as a courtesy call to remind them.

That can be a HUGH headache if it gets out of control. I make contact with my customer the day before to make sure the time is still good with them. I do this early in the day just in case they want out. If gives me time to re-work my schedule

I have a basic rule. If you last minute cancel twice; I'm done. Nothing personal

I'm afraid deposits will push customers away, since no other detailers in my area have them. Usually all cancels notify the day beforw, but filling a spot that soon is hard.

The key man is to mix retail clients with B2B. I had a retail client that I was supposed to do this weekend for $1,000 but the weather said otherwise........ one of my B2B clients just tossed me $1950 in business to be done in the same period of time (1.5 days). Rain or shine, B2B needs their investments detailed asap. With that said, if you solely do B2B you will have security but lose when it comes to revenue (in this case not so much, but rare) - but security can limit your cashflow, especially in winter :buffing::buffing::buffing:

I couldn't imagine asking for a deposit for a detail. What other business requires this?

That's how I am. I see myself as the best and most honest detailer in my area. Treat me right and you get the best work possible for the best price.

Its a large boat lmao - a tritoon double decker....... replaced with 2 prison buses needing 2 steped gel coat sufaces plus interior details :buffing::buffing::buffing::buffing: Sorry Flash - Ive been told I dont charge enough for our work lmao!

Examples :

1) B2B provides 100K a year solid income
2) Retail Provides 150K a year solid income

B2B will get you through winter and slow periods, but you will be tossing many of your eggs in a few baskets.

Retail solely, you may make more within the year, but you better be smart with your money cause it all comes at once! Slow season you get screwed.

Put the 2 together (requiring keen managing skills) you can succeed in any month, any season, and in almost any weather condition as well as making more by the end of the year.

Maybe Im wrong??!?! Or maybe my experience has taught me this and this is how the real world works?!?!? :buffing::buffing::buffing:

Yeah B2b is something I've been getting a lot of. Not 1k jobs but 600 extra a week between 2 businesses. I operate in a middle size community with 75k population. Somewhat limited prospects.
