Well, I finally stepped up this year and got myself a booth at some of the local car shows and a few bigger ones.

The biggest one right now is World of Wheels. Which I'm just waiting on my package to show up. I talked to the guy in charge of vendors yesterday.

I'm also part of another big one in July, which is the Summer Nationals which is over 3 days.

I'm starting to design my banner, new business cards, and brochures to all match. Currently they don't.

I was curious as to what you would put on your banner? Obviously it's going to be my logo (see aviator), website, phone number. Should I put anything else? Maybe like paint correction, headlight restoration, etc?

I have a sample hood that I will have on display, sample headlight with 50/50. Planning on putting together a video loop to play through a 24" LCD TV I have hooked up to a laptop.

Still trying to figure out what type of hand outs if any I'm going to do. I was thinking maybe small spray bottles with quick detailer with my logo on them? Or maybe just a key chain bottle opener or something.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I like the video and 50/50's. I almost got a booth at the St. Louis auto show next week but I could rationalize spending $1200 on a 10x10 booth. Although I do have 40 cars I'm cleaning for the show!!

Yeah I missed the International Auto Show one. Here it was $1,350 for a 10x10.

The other shows I've looked into are not nearly that much. I'm not sure about World of Wheels yet. Based on past year prices it's around $700. But the other shows were only a couple hundred bucks each.

Yep 1350 sounds about right. $700 is still a lot. But I guess that's a couple/ few details.

I think for double the money I would've done the auto show only because I bet 3-4 X people go to that. I think just getting out in public eye like that will help you out.

Is full boat like all out on your site?

My Deluxe wash is what I sell most of.

The Deluxe wash includes
Two bucket wash, clay bar, wax/sealant (sealant extra cost), windows (inside & out), wheel/tire cleaned/dressed, chrome/metal polished, vacuum, interior detail, vinyl/leather cleaned/protected

The full boat is all of that with 1 step correction, headliner cleaned, upgraded leather products, upgraded wax/sealant, etc.

I wouldnt worry too much about handing out freebies. You have everything you need already.Just show them your work and socialize and you should be fine.

If you hand out anything I think it should be something that has your logo, number and website. I think flyers would be best because people who are reall interested will take them. With keychains or anything else people will take them because they are free.

If you want to give out something I would personally hand it to people who pick up the flyer.

I wouldn't hand out key chains. They are a dime a dozen and are ususally thrown away or stuffed into the back of a drawer. Handouts sound like a good idea. If you can get a deal on some nice glossy handouts that would be great, people like looking at good pictures of clean cars. They would pay more attention to your handout. Good luck.

The only thing I would hand out is knowledge and business cards

Maybe you can take a body panel, like the hood of a neglected car, and correct half of it beforehand or during. That would be an awesome 50/50 and better than pictures!

I am going to pick up another hood and actually set it up with 3 sections. That way I can show a 1 step, 3-4 step, and untouched. I also have a headlight that has a 50/50 for headlight restorations. I have a test hood now that I purposely burned through when I was playing around. Wanted to really get aggressive with my Flex rotary, a wool pad, and M105. And I can honestly say I was pretty amazed at how much pressure and time it took to burn through the paint. The paint was very healthy and GM paint.

I spent all day yesterday designing my banner, re-designing my brochures, and business cards. They all match now and look great. Just need to get them printed up.

And as far as the hand outs I think I'm going to stick with business cards and brochures. I know I'm going to end up spending a pretty penny on those since I'm going with quality printing and paper for both.

Sounds like you have a very good plan. I also agree that educating your audience is important for generating sales. Oh and don't forget that these costs are tax write-offs. Save your receipts!
