I have a 2004 audi with an auto transmission. I started the car and the mil light went on, When I put it in drive, it jolts, it then takes alot of pressing on the gas to get it above 20 mph. Any thoughts ?

Is it sputtering when your stepping on the gas could be a coil pack.

Yea, It struggles to hit 20 mph , but after 20 it goes normal

Why don't you go to Advance Auto or whichever one codes out cars for free and see what the MIL code is, instead of guessing? Or if cars are going to be your hobby, invest in a code reader.

Where are you, on the island?

Code reader might be a good idea,I think Autozone does it too

This is a detailing forum not audi or mechanical forum.

Its your carburetor its running too lean...

Agree...get that code read and THEN proceed. Don't just start throwing money at it before you have (at the very least) a starting point.

Autozone reads codes for sure, I'm not sure about advance auto.

I know one of them does, I don't know because I've had a code reader since they went OBD I and you couldn't just stick a wire across the right terminals of the ALDC (let's see who knows that acronym!)

It depends on the mood of the employee at the time.

I've had codes read at both establishments, and requests denied at both establishments.

I bought a cheapo code reader about 6 years ago. Its $48. I can't tell you how many times I've used that thing for my car. Bad part about it is, your friends will always be calling you when THEIR MIL light is on.

There may be proprietary codes a cheapo code reader can't read - so I've been told. However, I've never ran into this. Its usually the easy stuff, Just a bad sensor.

We got a BIG problem, the computer system for the transmission might be done, We are looking at a 1200 dollar repair if the computer and carpet does not dry

wait... what? dry? when? huh?

we went from reading codes to a saturated computer module?

Yes, they suggested I get codes, well I dont really need codes now as my back seat was covered in a puddle of water which has a transmission computer and sensor. It got really soaked, I currently dont know if it will dry , but if it does not it could be 1200
