Hi all,

I bought that Pinnacle waterless wash BOGO,
Pinnacle Liquid Crystal Waterless Wash Concentrate with Carnauba Buy One, Get One Free!
And it says, "it extends protection between normal waxings."
I thought it was a one-step product because it had carnauba in it. Oops!

Out of everything I've bought in the last 2 weeks, I have enough shampoo to wash the 7th fleet, but I don't have any wax! So they mean real wax, like the $95.00 a can stuff? Or is this the Pinnacle Souveran stuff everybody is talking about? Or are there other ones I should be looking at, maybe something in the mid-price range with UV protection? Suggestions?

I have DP paint Coating. I thought it was like a wax.

Help!

You have a coating, which is a synthetic product. There are also sealants, again synthetic products. Wax can be natural or synthetic product. Car wax is never pure wax though; there other ingredients mixed in with the wax, and those ingredients may be natural or synthetic.

All three (coatings, sealants, and waxes) serve to protect the paint. You can put wax on top of your coating if you wish; some believe it gives the finish even more gloss/depth/etc. But it is not strictly necessary.

I am no expert nor am I a chemist, but I am skeptical of wash products that have carnauba in it. Not that I stay away from such products, but IMO it is added more for marketing, and has no real benefit. I could easily be wrong, though.

Hey Lime,

Yeah, you have quite a bit to wash cars, but never a bad thing haha

to keep it simple, in order of length or protection is..
Wax -few months,
Sealant--6 months to a year,
Coating 2-3 years (like your DP paint coating).

I recently used the DP paint coat and loved it on a friends car. Easy to apply. Since you have it, you might as well use it and then you can top it with a good liquid/paste wax. no need to spend $95 on a can of wax, unless you have the money and don't care, that is. As Trekkeruss stated, waxes can be natural (carnuba) or synthetic (man made, typically last longer)---go to this page, good start to look around

Car Wax, paint Sealants,Car Waxes, Show Car Wax, Best Car Wax, Carnauba Car wax, P21s Car wax, Pinnacle Souveran Wax, Meguiars car wax, Mothers

That being said, your DP Paint coating, as claimed should last two years (pending conditions etc etc) BUT your paint should and must be "surgically clean" prior to putting it on paint so it can bond to the paint or just pour it on the floor- its quicker to waste (wash/Iron-x/clay/prep polish/IPA (Isopropyl alcohol) )
here is a thread about a DP paint coating review, great info here for you.
