My detailing consist of doing my vehicles and occasionally a neighbor's or co-worker's car or truck. I use a Flex 3401 and LC hybrid pads, mainly orange and white.

Would you guys advise me how you're using Essence. It seems like every thread relating to gloss and shine has reference to Essence and Sonax EX 04-06. So throwing "caution to the wind" I ordered the Essence.

So--When I need to compound, I normally use FG 400 or UC. Can Essence be used after these products; and can it be used as a stand alone product. Amount of product, machine speed, pad cleaning, any info would be helpful. Also, can I use 845 over the Essence?
Once again I find this forum the "bedrock" for anything detailing.
Thanks

Essence is a super fine finishing polish and is also a primer for CQuartz. If your not coating, why not use 3800 or Ultimate Polish as your finishing polish before using 845?

In my experience Essence adds a fair amount of gloss to the paint above and beyond what perfection level final polishing can achieve.

Essence has higher gloss and adds something that no other finishing polish can.

And it can also be a real pain in the rear end to remove. I've used it, once.

I put it in the finicky category of products, it's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.

I agree with Rsurfer, their are far better alternatives than Essence unless you are coating after using it.

I’ve been through bottles and it’s the easiest wipe off ever, almost nothing left to wipe.

I've found the same thing. So long as you don't over apply or over work it. Definitely a bit different application process to dial in than some other polishes but love the results.

Yeah you barely use any and it works quickly

Which puts it in the finicky category, thank you for confirming that.

In my experience B&S green foam is the most versatile pad to use w/ Essence. It almost always finishes down perfectly on a large variety of paint systems and allows the product to have just enough bite to finish out any lingering compounding haze in only one section pass. I usually prime the pad for the initial section with about 4 pea sized drops. After working an area the pad is blown out and I'll add two pea sized drops for subsequent sections. I retire the pad once product begins visibly gumming up and curing on the face of the pad, usually after about 3 or 4 panels. It all depends on the paint and what is determined by my test spots but I'll usually run it on a Rupes15 at speed 4 - 4.5. You can top Essence w/ whatever you want. The solvents in 845 might partially degrade Essence unless you let it cure for several hours, although I admittedly have never tried topping Essence w/ 845 so can't say for sure.

IMHO, not really. It isn't like the miracle product or anything even close.

How many vehicles have you used Essence on? What is your normal "go-to" finishing polish that finishes out better than Essence and produces a higher degree of gloss and depth?

IMO, I could never get Essence to finish out properly and got tired of messing with it to get any good results. I had much better results with HD Polish+. Im gonna try again some day with a different pad, but thats if I find time. It definitely doesn’t work worth a crap with their gloss pad.

Essence is one of my favorite finishing polishes and is super easy to use. Essence breaks down quickly and allows for less time needed to complete your finish polishing step. First section use 4 pea sized drops, spread on low speed, 2 passes on speed 4 and one pass on speed 2.5/3 - wipe off is effortless. Each section after only use 3 pea size drops. Smooth, glossy and ready for sealant (Reload) or coating. The results are great.

^^ this. I only use it as a base for coatings but it's my go-to when I do.

IMO doing exactly that^ aka using Essence as directed feels so wrong to me.. And this coming from someone who hates DAT polishes... But that little working, not to mention the fact that I've never not once experienced that long awaited super hyped Wow moment with Essence.. I went through almost an entire bottle until I just about hated the product for never living up to its glossy reputation.

The so called gloss of this product is complete hype!

I use Essence exclusively with Rupes Yellow, BnS Green or Orange pads and on all types of paints and colours results has been phenomenal. Its not as oily as all other types of finishing polishes, it requires less product and fewer passes not forgetting the easiest wipe off ever.

I have put it up against:

Menzerna SF4000/3500
Menzerna Power Protect Ultra
Scholl Concepts S30+
Rupes Keramik
Rupes Diamond
Chemical Guys V38
Meguiars M205
Meguiars Ultimate Polish
Wolfgang Finishing Glaze
Poorboy’s Blackhole and White Diamond
HD Speed
Pinnacle XMT Carnauba Glaze
CarPro Reflect
Angelwax Redemption
