I have some very slight marks (about two or three) on my car. It has ceramic coating. I've done a little research and this seems like the best product for this case.

How easy is the Essence Plus to use? I am very much a newbie to car care!

I just don't want to make the area worse, as you probably would never notice the lines unless I pointed them out and the car was in good light.

Essence Plus is going to fill in defects thus repairing a coating. It is not a miracle product as it does minor filling. It is like a glaze/sealant. It also does not last as long as CarPro claims. It will alter the water behavior as well given it is a sealant.

CarPro recommends to use it with a CarPro gloss pad as these pads have no cut.

In what way does it alter the water behavior? I use it a lot and haven't noticed any difference.

I definitely noticed a loss of hydrophobic behavior when I used it. I also noticed it didn’t fix any of the issues I bought it for. Tried in 3 separate occasions and it was useless in my experience but YMMV. I threw the rest of the bottle in the trash.

When you have a calibrated eye it’s easy to tell it’s not as good as a coating

Also the self cleaning is not as great. It tends to be dirtier than the coating.

I never tried to use Essence as a stand alone product. I mainly use it as a coating primer to CarPro coatings. Essence plus dont have abrasives while the original Essence does. I used Essence to repair CarPro coatings on several occasions but I always follow up with a SIO2 coating on the repaired area to ensure longevity.

Minor corrections can be achieved with Essence (not Essence Plus) but I personally not a fan of this... it took way too long. Its very easy to overwork the product which ended up with me spending obscene amount of time wiping it off. I find it faster and easier to use a medium to light polish then use Essence as a primer/glaze prior to applying a true SIO2 coating. Your mileage may vary but this is what I experienced.
