Ceramic coating a new boat bottom in fresh water

Hi Mike, long time sir!
I have been using ceramics for automotive for quite a whle now and want to use it on a brand new fiberglass boat bottom. What is your recommendation?
 
Bump, I have a client ready to pull the trigger.
Looking for anyone that has tried this.
If not I guess I am the guinea pig.
If so I will post pics
 
Looks like you might be the guinea pig as my boat doesn’t come out of winter storage until early May. On the port side I plan on trying GTechniq new coating n on starboard sidethe Marine 31 coating (. Will do prep work first), all fresh water
 
I have used a ceramic coating (CQUK) on a hullside but never the bottom. Too much debris and water action for the ceramic to hold on the bottom. Ceramics aren’t that strong that they would protect the bottom, just as a rock can penetrate will not protect paint with a ceramic. It’s just too thin.
 
My quest is to prevent water stains on the bottom and at the waterline/scumline. Boats here spend about 6 months in the water a year. 6 in 6 out.
The stains require an acid based hull cleaner, with a boat on a steel trailer this enters a whole new world of problems...
These boats run less than 50 hours a year.

Sorry I missed this the first time around - super hard to stay caught up 100%. I think I do a pretty good job though for a mere mortal human being. :)

My recommendation?


Go with an ESTABLISHED brand for gelcoat specific ceramic coating.

Turns out Gtechniq has an office and training facility close to me. I should be training this coming Friday and become an authorized dude LOL

Well, after one summer, could you tell the difference between the two? Or too soon to tell?
