What ceramic coatings has anyone tried on boats, specifically gel coated boats? Seems there are new coatings popping up weekly, trying to get a feel for which ones actually work, by work I mean lasting longer than 12 months.

Here's the class that did this boat (and another boat)

Pictures & Comments 2019 Boat Detailing Class at Autogeek with Mike Phillips

I wish I could have put more of the pictures up for that class showing the process but putting pictures up like this,

2019_Boat_Class_004c.JPG

Which means the original picture was cropped, resized, named and then uploaded to an actual photo gallery and then inserted using BBCode Image Tags TAKES A LONG TIME. I'm actually the only guy in our industry that does this. I challenge anyone to find one other person that does this? No one.

So alas - I have the pictures showing the people above and the complete process they used to go from neglected to respected but no time to make all the magic happen.

The coating used was the GYEON Q2R Marine GelCoat

GYEON Q2R GelCoat

But unless your boat is BRAND SPANKING NEW - then no coating is going to work. The gel-coat must be new or correctly prepped in order for the coating to make a proper bond. For the boat you see above - my class MACHINE SANDED IT and that was just the first step.

8 months, now I am getting excited!! Mike what do you think would be reasonable expectations in the florida weather? Do you think 12 months is achievable, if the vessel is maintained properly, weekly wash downs, etc??

With CARE - you bet.

Most people don't do squat for thier boats and that's why most boats look like squat.

Royce and I just did the full meal-deal to his 23' Formula, that's the teal colored Center Console in the pictures and link above.

Royce TAKES CARE OF HIS STUFF.

So in a year - I'll be able to tell you how well the 3D Ceramic Coating is holding up on a CC

I did not see this until just now.

I was looking all over on autogeek to find information re coating the teal boat.

I have a boat coming in within a month or so.

It is brand new...just one season on a lake in VA.

Owner would like it cleaned up and to put something on it to protect and to make cleaning easier.

Glad found this---I will have tons of question for you soon!
