Thanks for looking!:dblthumb2:

Looks AWESOME!

You didn't mention what type of tool you used?

For everyone reading this into the future, look at all the rivets in the aluminum panels holding the panels together. If you buff to aggressively over ALL these rivets you'll burn through the paint and have shiny spots all over the plane and probably really piss off the owner. More of a concern with older planes that have been neglected then newer planes that some hack detailer hasn't already trashed.

Nice work!

Great work, i cannot imagine the work you had to do to polish the underside of the wing!!!

really, really nice! looks great!
did you wash it first?
and yes..equipment used?

Great work! She looks fantastic. Like many pilots, I trained in a 172. Very forgiving aircraft and a joy to fly. Buffing one is not for the faint of heart and I applaud your efforts and great results.

Thank you! The aircraft was washed for me by the wash team where the aircraft is stored. I did however supervise the wash.
I used a DA Polisher

Thank you! I havent flown this particular one but I am rated on one like it and it is a real dream to fly. really forgiving like you said. and landing is so easy!

Thanks Mike! I used a DA polisher with an orange CCS pad for the first step and a CCS white pad with the M205. I dunno how to edit the post to add that info in?

Yes as you said one must be careful of the rivets and and also on older aircraft, there may be places where the paint chips away and if you run a pad over it you can pick up bits of paint.

Also I find aircraft paint can be really hard so product choice for paint correction is vital

I will say, polishing the underside of the wing can be added to my arsenal of tricep workouts at the gym!!! I had to stop quite often to give my triceps a rest :D

Amazing work, question have you ever used Rolite to detail an aircraft?

Thanks bud :xyxthumbs:

I haven't Used Rolite. I have only ever used 3M and Meguiars on aircraft

Very nice work, I bet your muscles are angry at you after finishing that plane!

If and when you do do the bottom of the wings use one of the ladders that come apart with a scaffold. This will allow you to be at a comfortable position closer to the lower part of the wing

Thanks Meghan! Yeah! its a great tricep and forearm workout!

Great work. Thats a lot more real estate to buff out than a full size truck.

Thank you! Everything is pretty much flat so its not difficult to buff except for the underside of the wings....

How would that work?

nice work Marc, makes me miss being up in the one I have access to. 172's are sweet hearts!

Nice! I have about 1000 hours in 172's. None of them were that clean!
