I just bought some Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Cleaner Gel to use as my maintenance wheel cleaner. I am using the Chemical Guys "The Duck" foaming spray bottle and will dilute at 1:4 or 1:6 depending on what I read is the ideal ratio for well-maintained, Opti-Coated wheels (I know many say that all you need is a good soap, but for whatever reason I like using a dedicated wheel cleaner).

I was thinking, however, of adding a soap to the water/Diablo mix. I got the idea because Optimum says to add some ONR to the OPC mix if cleaning wheels. I think that this could really help encapsulate the brake dust, dirt, and grime and help make a clean rinsing finish.

What are everyone's thoughts? Should I add a rinseless wash (like ONR), a waterless wash (like UWW+), a low foaming car wash soap, a high foaming car wash soap, or a degreasing soap (like Dawn)? Would it be beneficial to add an ounce or so of a APC?

Is all this overkill? Should I just use the Diablo diluted in a foaming spray bottle? I am all about mixing different things to make the ideal solution. If everyone think's it's worth a try, I'll write up a review (if it hasn't been done yet) but then again, having not used Diablo by itself, I don't know how beneficial my review would be.

Thanks for the feedback and what everyone thinks and happy detailing!

If your using Diablo for your normal well maintained wheels you don't have to go nuts with mixing chemicals. I actually prefer CG Sticky gel over Diablo.
If you need a breaker bar because they are trashed use Sonax, Brown Royal or Iron X.
I take the wheels off my tires twice a year. Strip them down with Brown Royal dry the, seal them, and wax them.

ehh if it were me just using good soap would be good enough. Hell, i can powerwash the brake dust on my wheels without presoaking them with anything. They come out looking great.
