Changing Backing Plates Griots

Ive search the form as to learn how to remove BP to put on a 3" bp. I noticed that the old griots, some forums were saying you can not change out bp. Is this true with newer version? Or has the versions even changed?
 
you change them on GG6.......not sure on the 3 tho.

if you have a newer one there is a wrench supplied with the unit,slip it behind the bp to hold shaft and rotate bp in a counterclockise direction to remove the bp.

install in revearse procedure and just snug the bp no need to overtighten.
