I have a delivery scheduled to arrive tomorrow and some 915 wax is included in it. I have read some great reviews on this wax and i am looking forward to applying it to my black car.

In the last couple of months, i have polished my car and then applied Wolfgang deep gloss sealant. About a month later i washed and applied some Mothers carnauba wax over the sealer. Car looks great now but i know i will be eager to use the new wax. Is there an issue applying the 915 over what i have on my car? should I polish the car to remove what is on it before using a different wax?

Thanks for any advice.

Dave

if you put it over that stuff, you really won't have a solid basis to form an opinion since what you see is a combination of several products.

I'd suggest doing just the hood or trunk lid (or half of them) so you can compare. What if you don’t really 'like' it? All you'd have to redo is that one panel.

Use a paint cleaner (Pinnacle Paint Cleaner) before applying your new wax.

Bet he won't see a difference.

I’m not going to sell the OP short.

I’m betting that if he can see galactic
realms quintillions of miles away...then
detecting the nuances between Waxes
could be a walk in the park for him.

Sounds like the majority opinion is i wont see a difference between the 915 and the inexpensive wax i have been using. Is the main difference longevity? Longevity is never i big seller for me because i wax my cars often.

I will wait till i need to wax in a month or so and I will then use a paint cleaner like Rsurfer recommended.

Ultimately, he just wants to play w/ a new 'toy'. There is no good reason to apply 915 right now.

Edit: Didn't see your response. Collinite lasts a looong time and you can back off the constant waxing.
I use Collinte 845 and 476S and use Optimum Car Wax as a 'topper'.

I always use a quick spray wax after washing my car but i would still apply a new coat of paste wax every six or eight weeks.

What would you suggest, full wax application three times a year? Spray wax every week or two after bucket wash?

#915 is a great product, on a properly prepped car, especially black, it looks stunning, period! Apply it thin, this is the rule of thumb for #915. It has earned this rep here that its hard to work with and I've applied it 3 ways,
the first is a panel at a time and remove, no issues, the next was the entire car and then remove, again, no issues and the last one was apply to the entire car and let it sit overnight and then remove, again, no issues. #476 is also a great product that lasts a very looong time, same ways tried with it, no issues. Now I know #845 is very popular but it doesn't hold a candle to either #915 or #476, not even close!

I say strip it and apply one of the quiet, amazing produts out there!
