Charging by the linear foot?

I notice you guys charge by the foot when working on RVs and boats. How exactly do you calculate this? Do you measure four sides and the roof to get the total footage?
 
Just length. Some charge $10-$25 per. foot. So if it's a 32 footer at $10=$320. Also depends on work, is it a wash or correction, etc.?
 
Cool thanks for clearing that up. I should definitely buy some RV gear and get into this, it seems like a pretty good payday. Is it advisable to have a helper working when working on them?
