I thought I had seen a thread about a fairly inexpensive foam gun... ? Any help would be appreciated.

Do you mean foam canon/lance? The type that attaches onto a pressure washer?

If so, I would suggest typing "foam blaster" into google and you will find what you are looking for.

Can a foam gun / canon not be used with a regular garden hose? I don't have a pw.

Also reading, Im not sure if i really need a foam gun now... seems like a a lot of debate as to weather it is worth it or not..

Foam cannons (for pw) or foam guns (for hoses) are definitely more of a "luxury item"... I find them particularly useful when stripping LSP prior to a correction job, or when a car is particularly dirty, but they are definitely not a necessary tool to have.

gilmore foam gun is what your looking for... i actualy might be selling mine soon

Ace hardware sells a smaller version of the Gilmore foam gun and it's like $20 if I remember correctly. I don't think you can beat that

I bought it and must say it works extremely well for me, I was surprised at the results.
The one I bought has a rubber tip at the end of the nozzle.

just buy a real (gilmour) foam gun and be done with it. it may cost a little more than some would like to pay, but it will last forever and you won't waste money in the long run...

Since I do conventional washes so infrequently now I'm content with using my Ortho dial-a-spray I had sitting in the garage. It actually works OK. I store the shampoo in the reservoir straight.

Gilmore has a couple of versions.

Gilmour 75QGFMR Foamaster Adjustable Multi Ratio Cleaning Gun
Gilmour 95QGFMR Foamaster II Cleaning Sprayer

Splurge for the 75QGFMR more versatile and looks better constructed.
Autogeek only sells the better version under several names. Go for it.

I started out using my garden sprayer, and while it does work, there's more ratio control on the gilmore with a detachable hose nozzle and a reservoir that always dangles in the correct position

A luxury item that's FUN TO USE

I have one, I sure use MUCH more shampoo than I used to. I think it's worth it. I have the Gilmour with adjustable ratios, purchased back in 2006 or so. It still works.

I have found that Meguiar's Gold Class and NXT Car Wash (R.I.P.) foamed the best. I have Chemical Guys Mr. Pink and it hardly foams, but it is super slick.

I use my Gilmour with DG 901 without adding any water on setting of A. An inch of soap lasts me 4 or more washes (uses very little with no waste).

Green Earth Technologies G Clean Foam Blaster Nozzle for Pressure Washers...google it...I LOVE mine...$20

My method of madness for filling my gun is: This is tough to explain.

The first time ever, I probably used a couple of cap fulls of soap and fill the quart reservoir with water.

After that, I'd fill the gun reservoir with water from my soapy wash bucket before I wash the car. A week later or the next wash, I'd add a cap full of shampoo to the reservoir filled with soapy water from the previous wash and use that to foam. Foaming my TCH, set at about 3/4 strength, only uses about half the reservoir so I'd top it off with fresh soapy water and save that till next time when I'd add a cap full to that.

I use Pinnacle car shampoo in the wash bucket and Maxi Suds II in the gun. With this method, I'm only using a cap full of each total, to foam and wash the car with plenty of suds and slickness for both processes. Economically sound.

If u want to have mega foam like the videos on youtube u need a lance cannon. The foam gun is not the answer to what u want. It works well but not to what a pressure washer and lance cannon will get u. Plus u need a soap that is made for them. High Foam soap.
