Hi Guys, i want to detail my Subaru RIGHT from the ground up. I had just purchased Chem. guys 'V38' final polish to help fix the paint and 'Extreme Depth Liquid Carnauba Creme Wax + X-Seal' for a top coat..... and was still undecided on the sealant. Soon after purchasing these i found and decided to try the Wolfgang combo of 'Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0' and their 'Total Swirl Remover 3.0'.

Does anyone have experience with these 2 products (brands)? The V38 should remove my swirls but something seems very appealing to me about the Wolfgang combo. (i believe i have mild swirl marks but have no way to gauge what constitutes mild, moderate or severe swirl marks.)

I will probably still go with the WG sealant 3.0, but am not sure if i should return the V38 or use the V38 with the WG sealant?

(claybar first and i will be using the PC7424xp) .... THANKS!!

Having 1st hand experience with Chemical Guys V34, V36 and V38; they went into the trash! Not to put them down just a bad experience overall. Wolfgang's has a great reputation and I have a couple of their products and they are top notch.

I have not used their Compound/Polish, however, I hear it is very similar to Menzerna's, which I use.

IMO even though I have not used their compound/polish my guess it would be better than CG.

It was with my experience with CG V products that made me switch to Menzerna. Best thing that ever happened.

That is my experience and many here would tend to disagree. But if you are comparing go with Wolfgang. I use their AIO and I am impressed by it.

I have not tried the CG products yet. I did use the Wolfgang TSR, Finishing Glaze, and sealant on my Denali and the results were out of this world. It was my first time ever to DA and the Wolfgang products transformed my truck into a show queen. So easy to use and awesome results. I am a Wolfgang customer for life.

Keep in mind V38 is not designed to remove swirls, it is a finishing polish. I tried V36 on my cars paint and it got the light swirls out but didn't get everything. It did an ok job but I think there are better compounds/polishes out there. If you want to stick with CG get their V series sampler pack and see what works. Plenty of product to do a car.

I believe the Wolfgang polishes are made by Menzerna which is also very popular on this board. I will be using Menzerna products this spring when I polish my car.

I would suggest detailing from the top down, rather than the ground up. That way, you don't lean over panels you've already buffed out.

But yeah, Wolfgang is made by Menzerna and is definitely quality stuff.

Certain companies do some things better than others - CG are top notch for cleaners and soaps. For waxes, polishes, and sealants, I have been extremely unimpressed. Good marketing but marginal results.

I have had nothing but outstanding results from anything in the PBM family. Prefer BlackFire to WG personally but can't go wrong with any of Pinnacle / WG / BF

After tried a couple of their chemical I only keep their 16oz bottles :D

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for your input, it really did help. i will absorb the 15% restocking fee and return it, cut my losses and go all Wolfgang. i am sure (know) there are more advanced polish and sealants out there. price is not an issue to a point, but i dont want to have to mix the products or have a big learning curve and have to fix something that tends to streak. and you can only search and window shop for so long. i want a sealant that lasts 6mo. or longer that looks and feels like wax. i just jumped the gun a day too early. i feel good about Wolfgang Concours Series. i definitely want 1 step products that does 1 thing and does it well, and as many (steps) as needed to go through from fix through shine. i have the following 5.5'' HEX-logic pads ordered: green, white, blue and black. i am a little worried about using the orange pad as Subaru's have soft paint, if the green doesnt make things disappear, i will assume i need a stronger 'cutting' pad (using the WG swirl remover). -- thanks again!!

absorb the fee (return it back to cg's) and get some products that will perform and you'll be happy with some great feedback from many here who have used them. not to mention with some customer service to add as well which is just about absent with them (cg's). the only thing I would really even use from cg's is their car washes but even then there are so many excellent ones out there from other sources that I like better than their's (duragloss, hyperwash, 3D pink car soap to name a few) there is really no reason to even order anything from them. the funny thing is they (cg's) carry a blue refill funnel (to dispense product into smaller bottles) for $3.45 (retail $4.99) each and AG has it here for $6.99 for a 3pk...

It was with my experience with CG V products that made me switch to Menzerna. Best thing that ever happened.

I had a similar experience with the exception of the "trash" part. They (V32, V34, V36, V38) are sitting in my detailing cabinet collecting dust. Maybe someone will have some use for them cause I sure don't.

If anyone is interested in them....PM me and i will sent them out.

What problems are occurring with CGs V38. I had heard it is a fine product.

I have all three WG polishes, I also have CG polishes collecting dust. For my personal vehicles WG all the way, I want to use the sealant only the 12 cure time could be a problem. Also a bit expensive but the detail spritz is good stuff.

thanks for all the comments, keep 'em commin', the more i read the better i feel about it. seems there are a lot of products/brands that have great reviews no matter what they are, so how does one know if they are real or not? perhaps 'forums' is where to find the answers as apposed to 'reviews' when looking for the truth on the net?

You will be glad you went with the Wolfgang products. predictable results, a little goes a long way and results good enough to please the most finicky autogeeker lol !

there is something about the year - to - year prewax process i am still confused about though.... if i keep up with the sealant (3-4 times a year) do i need to re-do the prewax cleaner and swirl remover and polish every year? i was thinking i could get the 8oz. swirl remover and precleaner because i only want to ''fix'' the paint once..... and then get the 16oz. sealant because i want to protect the hell out of what i fix. if i claybar every spring, does that take it down to the naked clearcoat and i will have to re-fix everything every year? advice on this would be much appreciated.

if the paint is perfect to me after fixed, i would use ironx instead of clay bar to avoid "marring" also may consider using ironx snow soap before ironx.
