I just picked up this set from CG for a price that almost seems to good to be true($20).

I have stayed away from these clay substitutes because some of them have been know to mar. Anyone try this one. Any thoughts on it?

I've never really bought into the clay subs
Luber is great but why not use uww+ as its more cost effective

My guess is the block would be similar to the Ultimate Elastrofoam. So it mar some. Luber is awesome.

The Luber was only $1.50 with purchase of the block. If it wasn't, I have plenty of other QDs to use.

I think I would use it more than regular clay, since it has a longer life span. Says its "fine grade". It's also less than 1/3 the price of a Speedy Prep towel and the foam block part looks like it makes it easy to modulate your hand pressure.

When I get it I will do an in depth review. I wanted to get a bunch of CGs items from AG, but they didn't carry this and CG is having some insanely good clearance sales on microfibers.

That bar has struck my interest for a while! That is a great deal. Let us know how it works!

I have been stalking the block for some time. For the price it looks hard to beat

Ive used it on a couple cars now, performs well (at getting surface smooth) but after using it today on a dark green vehicle I did notice ALOT of marring, if you rub lighter than with a traditional clay bar your chances of less marring are better. I figure it this way...I am going to be polishing it after clay ANYWAY so what if it mars a little?

Alway's least aggressive. If the block is marring the paint, why use it. Yes, you may be polishing, but now you may need a more aggressive polish or pad to remove that marring. Removing more clear coat then needed is not a good idea.

I've tried it. It does mar the surface. I bought two sets and ended up throwing the blocks away. The luber is awesome though.

like I said if you use it lightly (compared to a regular clay bar) it doesnt mar. I tried it today on the dark green TahoeI did. Forgot that I had to push less and then things were fine. XMT360 was my follow up with an orange pad turned out great.

Well I got it. I probably won't be using it for a few months. I watched the video and the guy seems to be using hardly any pressure. I think a lot depends on how much pressure you use and how much lube you use, but I've noticed this with regular clay also.

Only one side of the block has the "clay" material:

Ive used this product before. It works well at removing the contaminates but it marred the surface. Thats why I stopped using it. I did like the luber though.
