I read that the Chemical Guys Hex Logic pads are made by Buff N Shine and use the same colors as the Buff N Shine flat foam pads. If that's the case, then why does Hex Logic call the green as heavy polishing and the white as regular polishing, but Buff N Shine says that the white is heavy polishing, and the green is regular polishing? For those that have used Hex Logic and/or Buff N Shine pads, which did you find had a more aggressive cut, the white or green pad?

Also, I heard someone say that the orange and yellow pads tend to soften during use, but the green pad stays more consistent and actually provides better cut than the orange and yellow over the long haul. Anyone else find that to be the case, where the orange and yellow start out cutting more and then loose come cut as they soften up during use?

Well, it used to be that there were two different types of green foam, at least in the LC line. I'm assuming Buff and Shine probably uses some foam from similar sources. The soft green foam was a polishing pad and the firm green a cutting pad. The LC white was more similar to other black finishing foams. Also, some foam might be open cell and other closed cell. It's easiest to tell by touch and size of the pores. The softer pads would be polishing or finishing pads, firmer pads cutting pads.

Even Meguiars at one time had two different foams they used as their maroon cutting pad. One was really hard and the other somewhat softer.

These pad manufacturers need to pull their heads out of their a$$es and make pads a universal color/aggressiveness.

Yeah, I know it will never happen. But it felt good to say that.........:laughing:

With pads you’re best off going by what they list them, there’s no symmetry from brand to brand no matter who makes them. Everybody use to make fun of Adams color coordination with pads and compounds but it really helps noobs, Rupes is also an easy match

The Griot's BOSS system does the same........ :)
