Chevrolet pays tribute to Mustang's 50th anniversary

Classy move GM! Also, great ad of the Z/28, the baddest camero ever built and the Nissan GTR killer.

Motor Trend did a pretty interesting comparo or the GTR, Z/28 and 911 Turbo S. Well worth the read. I was surprised by their verdict.

Preface:
The following is not to be misconstrued
as being religious or political.

1.) How can Chevrolet {GM} afford to pay tribute
to Mustang's 50th anniversary?

2.) Is it:
Because Taxpayers were forced to pay tribute to GM?

:dunno:

LOL!! Only you Bob.... actually I am right there with you ;)

Chevrolet that was a class act. If there was no Camaro, we would not have the Mustang like we do now. Vice versa. Competition just makes the Pony cars that much better.

I am a Ford guy always will be. But I salute Chevy for the gesture. Tomorrow will be the 50th Anniversary of putting the Pony Cars on the Map. Whether it be Chevy, Ford or Dodge. The Pony car rocks!!

I thought it was a nice move. It gets both cars and companies more publicity, while putting out positive vibes for both as well. It's a win win for both Ford and Chevy

I don't know why they say 50 more years Of rivalry. They stopped production due to poor sales. The Mustang and the corvette are the only two muscle cars that have stayed in constant production.

Great point!!!!

Kills the GT-R at what?

Yeah I read my Motor Trend and saw the results but here's a couple things:

-How many will you REALLY see on the road?

-Pure race tires vs. street tires

-One can be driven everywhere, the other isn't going to be.

Here in Chicagoland I see Godzilla all the time and not the same one, not as common as a Fusion but you get the point. I've seen them during the winter too.

From what I read it was more the new side impact laws and the cost of re-tooling way back then.Yes it was a tired design of those year Camaros.GM my have known that they were in trouble back then, tough to say.The new Corvettes tail lights look like the Camaros.

Why is it so hard for people just to give respect where it's due?
There's a ton of gtr nuthuggers for some reason.

Sorry I beg to differ, the Z28 is nice but is no match for the Nissan GT-R...

In 1983 Chevrolet did not produce a Corvette

@KillaCam - Have you driven a GTR or a ZL1 Camaro?
I'm not speaking for KillaCam...

However:
-Personally...
I would never even sit in a GTR, let alone drive one.
That's just me.

-Yes...I got a chance to drive a 1969 ZL1.
{Can you believe that, (include the L88), the COPO option brought the sticker price for these '69 Camaros up to around $7,500-$8,000!!}

Before I go:
@fly07sti...Have you ever driven a ZL1 or GTR?
Thanks.

Bob
