Any advice on polishing and swirl removal on chrome window trim?

You can't remove swirls, which are scratches out of chrome. :(

I've been in the detailing industry over 30 years. I've met a few people that have stated and claimed you can remove swirls and scratches out of chrome. I've never seen them or anyone actually do it.

To remove a scratch our of anything you must abrade the surface to remove material and level the surface with the lowest depths of the defects you're trying to remove. Abrading chrome puts new scratches into it.

You can remove staining, tarnish, oxidation, things that are TOPICAL or ON THE SURFACE but I've never seen actual swirls, which are fine scratches - removed from chrome.

Me? I buff out ALL the chrome on a car when I detail it but my goal is to remove the same neglect on the chrome that's on the paint and glass and the end results is the ENTIRE car is bright and shiny. Here's an example of a car with a LOT of chrome and I machine polished ALL of it. But all my hard work only made the chrome more clean, clear and brilliant, nothing I did removed swirls and scratches.

ALL the chrome on this car was machine polished and then hand waxes.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news AND if you find a product that really does abrade chrome to remove scratches while at the same time does not instill more scratches into the chrome - please share it here.

And because this is your first post to the forum...
