Hi Guys --
Last year my wife was involved in a minor accident that resulted in a repair estimate of almost 1,500 dollars. Instead of just paying it, I decided to learn basic body work and how to fix bumper covers, plastic trim and metal quarter panels. After the family realized I could do the work, they're lining up with their car dings and minor damage for repair.
After painting, the rest of the car looked really bad which peaked my interest in finish care.
Fixing the paint on the whole vehicle was my next venture and while not perfect, the results were quite good though now the next effort will show much more impact.
Lurking on this forum delivered more education to where now whenever I drive around, I notice not only body work I could fix but also swirl marks, haze etc. on other people's car. The wife seems to be hearing a lot of "I can fix that" from me more everyday! :xyxthumbs:
So I'm not a professional and the work takes me a lot longer but the results are closing in on almost perfect.
Looking forward to learning the tips and tricks that can keep developing my knowledge. Only thing is that once the family sees how great the finish restoration projects will look, they'll again be lining up. LOL
My next project is a 2004 Honda Shadow motorcycle repair and repaint. Another family accident but my son wants marble, candied paint after fender modifications and fuel tank repairs. With the information in forum, I know the end result will look great.
