****CLAY BAR - creating new scratches???***

I have never used clay before, everyone can't say enough about it. Can claying create new scratches? I know that I use it after the wash but do I do my entire car to ensure it is fully prepped for cleaner/sealant? Or, do people not clay the entire car?

My thought is that clay will trap dirt or contaminants that will stay in the clay. then when you continue to use the clay it will allow whatever is trapped to scratch the surface you moved to. Am I way off on this one?
 
First thing: use plenty of lube (dedicated clay lube, QD, or your wash soap).

Even when used correctly, it's possible but not likely for the clay to induce minor marring that is easily corrected.

In regards to the clay picking up debris and creating real scratches, that's why you want to periodically knead the clay while you're claying. Also, if you ever drop the clay on the ground you gotta pitch it. Don't try to salvage it, which is why it's best to take the bar and break it into 3 or 4 pieces in the event that you drop one.

clay itself is abrasive, think about it. Thus why most suggest polishing after claying as together they pull and remove contaminents from your finish.
 
Pinnacle Ultrta poly clay won't harm if used with Pinnacle clay lube. Love this combo!
