Claybar'd a small section on a car for test spot. Immediately turned my clay bar the same color of the car does this mean its single stage paint?

Also! the hood has what it appears to be little tiny over the whole hood hairline scratches but idk.. I heard that means the paint is splitting and only option to repaint hood. TONS looks almost like little fibers stuck in the paint.. idk but it covers the wHOLE hood in prob 1000s of these.

What is the make and model and year ? But from what you describe is seems to be single stage paint.

That car "should" have a clear on it. I'm wondering if you are seeing clear coat failure.

Even if it is single stage paint, you shouldn't see very much paint transfer to the clay. I've clayed many SS paints and the paint transfer is minimal.

What clay bar are you using?

okay well I was doing a test spot. Taped off a square to show the customer what a polish job could do for his car. car was SCRATCHED i mean SCRATCHED swirls and scratches going every which way. Looked like he been washing his car with maybe 3000 grit sandpaper! I go dude stop bringing it through the car wash he says I dont I do it myself.

Anyways I clay bar it and immediately transfer. I was like okay if this is Single Stage paint Ill go light pad so no damage. So I taped a square used some QD to clean dirt then Clay Bar'd. Then pulled out Griots DA with LC White pad and some M105.

I did 2 quick passes and not very much pressure because I was nervous on single stage paint. Well it cleaned up 80% of marks, it already looked so much of a deeper color and shine and very very glossy he was like wow thats night and day right there..

BTW no paint transfer on my white pad so maybe it is clear coated. Anyways what I noticed but he didnt. Those little hairline marks on the hood which I said in first post I think is clear coat failure I saw a few from a corner in that square I polished. Not sure if me polishing did that or the car was just so dirty I didnt notice before I started or what. Can a polish do that kind of damage.

He says he will think about bringing it back. Idk if I should just tell him not much I can do and he should get a paint job because I dont wanna damage the paint any further than it already is.

Sounds more and more like CC failure. Honestly I would stay away from it. Also if he saw the results and then says he will think about it then I doubt you will see him again. Oh and no, a white pad, M105 and 2 passes will not do any damage.
