Are any of you using an elastofoam block instead of the conventional clay bar for claying? How does it compare?

Also, do you use a typical clay lube with the block? Thx.

I have and use Elastrofoam. It usually induces marring. It is best for much quicker job on really neglected cars with tons of contaminants where you would go through lots of regular clay (which is not cheap) and you already are committed to paint correction on them. I also love it on glass.

You can use typical clay lube but you might find it doesn't lubricate enough. One reseller of clay block sells pretty good lubricant that is on too "highway robbery" side. Many prefer using car washes that are on slick side, like stuff used for wet sanding, like Meguiar's Hi-Tech wash.

I used on for the first time this past Saturday, I love how it did. I just used double strength car wash as my lubricant and I noticed not swirling. After using it, I followed up with a medium clay to see if it left anything behind, nothing was left on the clay. I don't know if Autogeek sells them or not. I bought mine of Bob Daniels at Danase.

I vote for original clay, all these new offerings lose the tactile feel that clay emits to all the users to know its working and areas needing more work.

now that it has been a few years and new technology has come out maybe.. anyone have any opinion on whether the clay bar or clay block is better ? I don't get what the actual difference is to begin with.
