if your paint is in good condition and doesn't require polishing should the process be wash, clay, cleansing lotion, then wax or skip the cleansing lotion if you clay????

can you wax new paint?

has anyone tried meguires liquid polish and if so is it any good???

thanks for the help!!

I would use a paint cleaning lotion whenever not using a polish. It will remove any oxidation, and has some light fillers to hide any swirls or small scratching clay might have introduced.

Your title made me think I was at this salon place my fiance took me when we got engaged.

I'm with KillrWheels, just use a cleansing lotion. As far as clay, it is a separate process, and needed if you haven't done it before. As far Meguiar's wax, it all depends how good is good for you.
I strongly advice that you get some good wax, like Pinnacle liquid Souveran, or even better for blacks - Souveran paste.

I agree with Scott, when I do not use Menzerna to polish my black C6, I will
the body lotion. I use the body lotion with a black foam pad, then apply some
Souveran paste.

Yes, Pinnacle Souveran

You want to clay and yes, polish to remove any contamination that is there. This is so the wax has an excellent surface to adhere to. I liquid Souveran is one of the best out there....I use it alot. If money is a factor though, 15.00 for a bottle of Megs NXT is the best bang for the dollar. I've got 5 months durability when applied right.

Justin ... I am amazed as nobody that I know of gets more than 4 weeks from NXT. Loads of complaints on every detailing site. Are you using the paste, and booster ?? Please tell.

I use the liquid form. I always put two coats on with an hour in between. Remember, NXT is supposed to sheet and not bead. I can tell it's still there because there are no water spots and everything comes off when washing still after 4-5 months. If I rinse my van with just the hose, it's dry in minutes on it's own.
Here it is after NXT was applied 3 months prior......just washed with NXT car wash.

For Shevie's question: instead of using paint cleaner and then wax, would Meg's Cleaner wax be a good one step alternative?

It would if the paints in really good condition. As you all know, I love the little red bottle and now it has more abrasives in it. Megs #66 is a little better but for 5.99, you can't beat Cleaner Wax for an all in one.

just remember an All-In-One type product is usually only considered "good" at everything and does not "specialize" in a specific area. Thats why most practice many steps in proper prep versus just using some cleaner wax.
