Clay Lubricant and Quick Detailer?

Is Clay Lubricant the same as a Quick Detailer?

2 Scenarios...

1) My car is 100% clean, drive it to an auto show, on the way it gets a little dirty, with bugs, etc. Will a Clay Lube do the same job as a Quick Detailer (Spritz on area and wipe off)??

2) Too thick wax/sealant application, apply Clay Lube or Quick Detailer?

IMHO...
-My particular Clay-'lubes' (synthetic detergents) would not be ideal for either of your scenarios.

However (again: IMHO):
-If one is using Quick Detail-products for the above scenarios:
Those Quick Detail-products, in turn, could also be used as a Clay-'Lubes'.

qd is thicker/ provides a higher lubricity -> higher protection, whereas the clay lube is too thin to meet standards

There is always a debate, seemingly based mostly on subjectivity, of whether there is the necessity of:
'Special' clay lubricants, or not.

But...For you to say:"clay lube can't be used as a qd"...Such a blanket statement!!! :wow:

-Now unless the clay-lube is a "shampoo solution"...
Surely you don't believe this is true...regardless of your reasoning. Seriously?

Also...IMHO: There is no reason to lead the OP/ARizzle astray!

I consider it a general rule of thumb, almost all the examples you posted have the word "detailer" on the bottle. But you're right there are some clay lube exceptions.
