Hey,

Ok so its not like this is my first detail or anything...i have a few years of what autogeek members would consider detailing, but for one reason or another my car and claying just dont mix...

I have an 07' civic si in fiji blue pearl...and i use pinn clay with DP 4-1 as lube. I cleaned the car up really well dried off and then began claying...i use a generous amount of lube and put enough pressure on the clay to move it across the car...but for one reason or another i get the mirror like scratches in areas and i dont understand for the life of me why...

Anyone have any suggestions!?! Thanks

Honda paint is very very soft.maybe the clay is to hard for that paint or you are push it to much against the paint.Honda paint needs special care...

i always use a fresh piece and i understand that the honda paint is very very soft...but i know that im not pressing that hard and i mean i dont believe the light blue pinn clay is hard...

it just means that a basic wash, clay, and wax is now turning into a full blown exterior detail haha!

thats why you have to clay polish seal wax a car every 6 months(especially Honda :D )

Had you always been using the same clay(light blue pinn)?Maybe some dust on the car?maybe some dirty on the clay from the car??

clay is somewhat abrasive, even poly clay, and thus likely the culprit. Should be able to remove with light finishing polish in most cases.

Sonus has a very fine clay if you want to give a try.

well whatever the culprit may be...im to anal to just wax the car and call it a day, so im pulling out the rotary, slapping on a a 7.5 inch LC CCS pad (orange or white pad), and using OPT Poli-Seal or Polish...

suggestions? thanks!

Interesting.... I have the same car only Red. I used the same clay last year with the Pinn Clay Lube and had no issues.
