Hey everyone!

I have a question about claying b/c i have been noticing it more and more (well i notice it when my boss clays a car haha)...

Anyway, after he is finished claying the car their are what look to be shinny streaks that almost look like scratches...i have an idea that he is simply pushing too hard but im not 100% sure...

...then today while i was claying my car, after drying i noticed that the very first spot that i clayed on my car (driver side of hood had the same marks)...i know that i dont push down very hard, the clay was a fine grade and i always use plenty of lube...and the piece of clay was brand new...

so what is this?

Thanks!

Claying is an aggressive process, beyond popular belief. Sometimes slight marring is inevitable but as long as you don't get any dirt on the clay it can be easily fixed. How much it marrs depends on the paint, temperature, humidity, the clay itself, the lube ...

well my car personally has very soft paint...it was about 40 degrees...who knows what the humidity is outside right now...i was using clay from work (its not pinnacle haha but nothing wrong with it that i can see)...the lube was DP 4 in 1...and i allowed the clay to soak in warm water to soften it up b4 i began...

im not too worried about the marring as i dried the car off, covered it, and called it a night...im taking my moms car to school tomorrow to take my final final for the semester and then i will come home and break out the PC...
