claying truck bed covers

after washing, is it a good idea to clay a vinyl or plastic truck bed cover before applying 303 protection?
 
Probably not... most truck bed liners have a texture to them and you'll get clay particles or smudges on the material...

As a general rule, you can clay anything that's hard and smooth...

Paint, Smooth hard plastics, Chrome, Glass, Stainless Steel, Fiberglas Gel-coats, etc.

I think he may be referring to tonneau covers, not bed liners?

What Mike wrote about claying still applies though. I have a vinyl tonneau cover and I have never clayed it, and I never would.
 
The same applies if you are talking about soft covers like vinyl, or textured. It should be a solid smooth surface if you are going to use clay. a soft brush and cleaner for vinyl tonneau covers is best.
 
I would think if the tonneau cover is smooth paint matched to the truck then yes I would treat it just like a hood or trunk lid. However, if its one of the textured, hard plastic or soft vinyl ones I would use a material specific cleaner and protectant.
