Cleaning 9 year old brake calipers

You should paint them with high temperature paint. It's available in many colors in rattle cans at most car product stores.

What a great idea, never though of using Iron X on calipers! I'll try the same thing, as I'm going to paint mine shortly.

thanks!

Looks good.

Permanon or Hydro 2. Then hit the wheels & calipers every few months. Works for me. Been doing it a few years now.

Great job. Coating won't hold up to break temps. High Temp Paint

Looks like I'll be painting, would you tape off or pull the caliper off?

So this truck never had the brake calipers clean! I just used iron-x, soap and a brush here are some pics!

I put a coating on them but I don't know how they will hold up any ideas??
FYI
Note: Iron X should not be used on bare metal parts, brake calipers, wheel balancing weights, or SMART paint repairs. Mask off these areas. Avoid letting Iron X dry on any surface.
I would choose Optimum version as it does not come with this warning.

Yea I remember that but was thinking about painting them any ways, can you put the link for the optimum version?

My recommendation would be the G2 caliper paint kit. It's a brush on kit. The paint is very durable. You can mask off what you don't want painted. Also you can leave the calipers on the car.

A cheaper approach, and I've seen this done successuflly, is to get a spray can of high temp engine paint and spray enough onto a plate to form a puddle, and using a brush to paint. People do this to avoid spraying, which involves either haviong to take off the calipers and brackets, or taping off to a higher degree to avoid over spray.
