Mainly started this as there was no real thread I could find for this. Thought I ‘d drop some info and ask some questions.

I’ve tried a-lot of things to clean the steering wheel of my moms 7 year old Rav4 no chemicals really made a dent and i’ve tried detailing brushes, low and long nap micro fibers, sponges, Gyeon Leather brush….. nothing really got it really clean.

I used an interior scrub scrubber type applicator and WOW this thing gets leather clean!

Those specks aren’t additional dirt there defects in the leather.

This was brand new and only used on the steering wheel.

Will be using on leather seats next.

I used P&S express interior cleaner and this stuff continues to impressed. Better than the Connolly’s i’ve been using.

I also like it as a clean only interior QD at 1:1. It’s great stuff if you haven’t tried.

Question I have is after cleaning can i use a coating (Gyeon leatherShield) or some thing like PBL L&V coating?

Who makes that scrub pad that you used? Also the product for the steering wheel leather that you mention will be great

What makes that pad different? From the picture it looks like a fluffy towel. Are the fibers stiffer?

I typically use an APC and one of my older semi-worn MF towels when going after the steering wheel. It takes a little effort to get the gunk off. I've noticed that while many of the all-in-one interior cleaner/protectants are good for daily use and protection, they aren't very good at the cleaning part. Periodically you need to give them a deep clean with something stronger like you've done here.

To answer your other question, I don't see why you couldn't follow up with any leather product you like at this point. I do. When deep cleaning a steering wheel or shift knob covered in leather, I'll typically go APC -> leather cleaner -> protectant. If the wheel isn't too bad I'll skip the APC.

Fibers are different. It’s a completely different material than Microfiber. If your familiar with the little yellow iron shape leather scrubber i believe is the same material.

Did not have to scrub hard at all. The material and cleaner does the work.

Me too please, if you don't mind

Tacky, sticky steering wheels are the bane of my existence

I think Toyota products come from the factory with a slow release Elmers Glue or something applied to the steering wheel

It's always a struggle to find a product and method

Bryan from Apex Detailing just reviewed this product, FYI
