Hi all,

I've been trying to clean the plastic inner wheel guard and arches yet no matter how much I clean it with a wash mitt it still leaves dirt and staines once dried.

Together with a gerni high pressure rinse they still look dirty.

Can anyone let me know how I can get them clean minus the dirt with a nice deep black finish?

Any methods or product recommendations would be great!

I go to the Coin-op and pressure wash w/ high pressure soap and then scrub with a black microfiber mitt.

Some on the Forum spray them with All-Purpose Cleaner before scrubbing with a long handled brush.

Griot's Garage Undercarriage Spray makes them look really nice.

Not sure about others here, but typically I use a APC on them then agitate and rinse away. Brushes help if there is a decent amount of dirt build up. If you have a car with a low clearance like I do, then you may have to turn the wheels to one side to get a good angle. Pressure washers do typically clean mine up if I don't drive too much though.

To keep them looking nice and black, I'll use a aerosol product like Stoners Trim Shine. But some people prefer sprays such as Meguiar's hyper dressing.

Spray some dressing in them bad boys and call it a day. They are made to catch road grime, making them flawless on any thing but a garage queen will drive you nutz.

I use Megs APC+ 10:1 ratio and allow it to sit. I then use the mothers wheel well brush to agitate and then rinse.

You have to spend the time to clean them very well once. Remove the wheels and to it. After you scrub them once, cleaning them with APC and a large Wheel Whoolie each wash is quick.

Skip all the dressings for wheel wells. They all attract dirt and dust. Then, the next cleaning will be worse. I use Permanon once they are clean.

I use APC and clean with a large wheel woolie during the wash. Then I use car pro trix. works wonders. Literally spray it on (shake often) and let it sit for 10 minutes. Grab some brushes and agitate. I do a final wipedown with a black mircofiber they look nice and clean.

Super degreaser and a wool wash mitt designated for wheel wells. Dress them for special occasions. You'll never get them perfect unless you are dealing with a rarely driven show car. I like meg's hyper dressing for wells because it dries very evenly without any wiping.

Thanks heaps for your replies guys.

I was thinking about getting one of the specially designed wheel arch/wheel well brushes to help with agitating but wasn't sure on which one as there a few good examples that got me confused! Any recommendations?

Mothers? Vikan? Daytona? Wheel Woolies?

Also, I know there are alot out there but is there a preferred APC?

I'd like to order all autogeek store :)

Do you have a car with decent clearance? If so then go with a typical wheel arch brush like the mothers or the green bristled one. For some cars like mine, I have to use the Daytona since I have about an inch of clearance.

Dollar Tree has a product called LA Totally Awesome Orange Degreaser that is $1 for half a gallon (64oz).

Very adequate for wheel wells

Save the expensive APC for interiors

+1 I really like this stuff but APC is so cheap when diluted at 10:1
