Quick question on cleaning rubber floor mats. I have a can or two of spray foam tire cleaner. I don't really use it on tires, but will this hurt or help clean the rubber floor mats?

Thanks

i don't see why not.. Eventually it will wear off..

I'm actually trying to think of a product that will restore the black in my rubber mats.. They are faded black now.

Meguiars vinyl and rubber cleaner and conditioner #40

I use Amazing Roll Off. Dilute 1:2. Rinse mats, spray on a let dwell a few minutes. Scrub with a tire brush and rinse. ARO has some protectant properties in it, so they end a decent looking black. I never use any dressing on floor mats, front or rear.

I ended up spraying them with some APC at 10:1 let it soak for a minute or two, and brushed with a tire brush. I rinsed them off, and shot them with some Megs Tire Foam and let them be overnight. They look like new and are nice dark color.

I had some really good luck this week cleaning a clients mats with Megs apc in a foaming sprayer. Let if dwell for a few then attacked them with a brush. After that I sprayed some 303 aerospace protectant on them. They turned out looking great!

Careful with the M40 vinyl and rubber, it makes the mats pretty slippery. I have had better luck with meguiars hyper dressing.

After cleaning, I lightly mist it on at a mild dilution ratio while mats are still wet. Dry looking brand new and are surprisingly not very slippery IMO.

I just use APC on my Honda Element OEM rubber mats. I take them out, spray with APC, scrub, hose them off, and hang them to dry.

I generally scrub them with an all purpose cleaner then wash with soap, water, and rinse.

The other day I did a woman's Rav-4 and thought I'd spruce up the mat's a but as they were faded. I sprayed some trim product on them then back in the car they went. I hopped in the car to move it and slipped falling on my ass....Well, this wasn't good....:argue:

Removed said mat's and washed thoroughly leaving them clean, dull, and non-slippery...:props:

I hate the faded look of rubber mats, there must be an anti slip product.

Solution finish?? Uttg? Haven't tried just my two best guesses none of my vehicles have rubber mats.

Another interesting topic!!! I have floor mats that need some refreshing. :) I just inherited a set of Grey WeatherTech mats from my brother-in-law that are several years old, stained and dirty. I washed them with Dawn, Simple Green, and a ZEP product I have. They are clean, but still have some tan-ish stained spots, and are faded.

So, my question: Has anyone used WeatherTech's TechCare® FloorLiner™ and FloorMat Protector? $25 for a 15oz bottle. Seems they wouldn't sell it if it doesn't work. Just thinking ...

Yes, I use it on both my WeatherTech floormats and floorLiners, (depending on the season). The Protector seems to keep them from getting dried out and stiff, but does not make them shiny or slippery.
The spot where my right heel rests below the accelerator is the only area that is worn, yet its still clean. My mats and liners do not get allot of use like some may get.
I've applied this product since I got the mats and liners. So can't really say if it would get rid of your tan-ish stained spots and bring life back to the faded area.

Can say that the liners are great in the winter time.

Thanks! It seemed like their product would work. I'll put it on my list of supplies to get.
