cleaning sealant from foam pad

Finished detailing my Volvo and used my PC 7424 for the first time along with Wolfgang sealant. Is there anyway cleaning the sealant from the Lake Country foam pads? Cleaning the polishes from their respective pads was no big deal but this stuff is another matter.

I just made it the designated WG applicator pad and put it in a ziploc
 
Good question you ask. I too cannot cleanup sufficiently my LC pads after using AIO's w/sealant, all straight sealants, all single stage paint stains. Like you say, oils are not a problem. Hope someone has a cleaning solution.
 
There are harsh strippers that will work, but I don't think it is worth the potential damage to the pad/velcro

Others use paint thinner, acetone, etc
 
Just use that pad as your designated sealant pad and be done with it. Sure you can use a chemical to remove it but you run the risk of doing damage to the foam in the process.
 
I rarely even attempt to clean my foam pads of my BFWD. I simply ziplock bag it when i'm done and only use it for that product. I can honestly say i have never had a problem with those pads with each subsequent use but would certainly like to hear any potential problems with not cleaning from anyone of the experts who can enlighten me.

I have 2 LC gold (super soft) LSP pads i do this with. I would've thought they would maybe harden up a bit from not cleaning and sealant drying in them but they remain as soft as ever every time i pull them out.
 
I simply massage in some Dawn and try to remove as much excess sealant as I can. It isn't worth the fight of trying to get it completely clean.
 
OK thanks for the response.I was planning on just cleaning them with dawn and after dried storing in zip loc bag
Another thing is it safe to store the foam pads in the garage?;didn't know if heat in summer would damage them.I'm in NJ and while it's not like Fla or AZ it does get hot

Just to comment because this question come up a lot....

The reason the Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 won't wash out of the buffing pad easily is the same reason it won't wash off your car easily and that's because waxes are not supposed to break down "easily" with water, or rain or wiping with water based products like spray detailers.

If they did wash off easily then people would complain that the sealant didn't last long. So "yes" it's difficult to was a quality wax or synthetic paint sealant out of a buffing pad and also out of hand applicator pads.

About the best way I have found includes using hot running water at your kitchen sink, a strong detergent and lots of "you" squishing the soap and hot water into and out of the pad.

You'll find a slimy ooze seeping out of the foam and it will take you a while. The better the wax or sealant the longer it will take.

I always spray my pad with a pad cleaner afterwards. Later that a day I wash my pads. No curing time......:xyxthumbs:
